Litha: A Full Moon Creation
The first gathering of the Glades Edge was a truly magical one, taking place on Litha and the full and stunning Strawberry Moon. It was also the first group ritual on my farm which was a thrilling and wonderful experience all in itself.
We gathered together in the mid afternoon and relaxed with conversation and wine (amazing wine) that Ayda brought. My husband joined us as we chatted and set up our ritual space outside by the fire pit. We were fortunate enough to have a very hot day that was cooling into a pleasant evening by the time my husband lit the fire and retreated inside so that we could begin. With a wonderful drumming CD playing in the background (love some Spiral Rhythm) we cleansed the space with both sound and smoke.
The purpose of our gathering was to honor the sun on the longest day of the year and to honor the full moon as it rose into the sky on the shortest night of the year.
We called our chosen energies into the circle, and to be honest, I had a profound experience upon calling the spirits of the land into our space. It was if they had been impatiently waiting all along for me to simply call on them. The rush of energy I got was as if to say "Finally, we were waiting.". We placed some wonderful hand made incense ( Ayda is awesome) into the fire and called upon the fire and heat of the longest day and the power of the full Strawberry Moon. We each took bundles of herbs and a note on which we had written the things we wanted to banish from our lives or be 'burned away' and tossed them into the flames.
We then spend a large amount of time drumming, crafting, and doing divination together. It was a relaxing and empowering time as the full moon continued to rise higher in the sky.
When we felt that the time was right we grounded, bid the energies farewell, and closed the circle.
Then we feasted on bread and blueberry butter, chick pea salad, zucchini casserole, and honeydew ice cream for desert. It was a wonderful evening full of magic, friendship, and personal growth. I cant wait until next month!
